Mattias J. Thorslund grew up in a small town by the Baltic coast. At college, he studied a variety of subjects, including Human Ecology, Transportation Planning, Statistics, Computer Science, and Geography, with an eye towards a career regional transportation planning. The chance meeting of a female exchange student from UCLA led to a change in priorities and to an eventual relocation to California. Before packing his bags, he did obtain his Bachelor's Degree (with honors) in Social and Economic Geography from Lund University. After the trans-Atlantic relocation and a reality check concerning career options, he landed a job as a developer of financial reports (using Crystal Reports). This soon led to his "inheriting" a software project: A time and expense reporting application for traveling consultants, built in Visual Basic 5 and MS Access. This led to further projects designing and implementing various web/database applications in MS SQL Server, ASP, Visual Basic, and Delphi. Enjoys: Out-of-the-ordinary experiences in music, reading, and travel. Most anything that moves on rails. Maps. Networks. Creative cooking. Photography. Writing about himself in third person.
