Active Agenda was originally designed
as a compliance product. Our design process focused on compliance
with occupational safety and health laws. As design progressed, so
did our business experience. Within several years we began to witness
the redundant programs and processes used to address regulations
emanating from a multitude of agencies. These observations changed
our development approach to focus on systems integration as a means
of achieving better results at a reduced cost.
We soon began to apply a simple litmus
test. We explored regulatory requirements of many agencies and we
asked ourselves what underlying business rule was being mandated by
the respective agencies. We then explored whether the business rule
was common to other regulatory requirements of other agencies
governing other business functions. If the underlying business
requirement resulted in a redundant business process, we set out to
develop a single system capable of complying with each of agency
mandates. The result, to date, is over fifty integrated business
processes.
Risk Imperatives: Active Agenda
utilizes a business process invention we like to call risk
imperatives. Risk imperatives make cross-functional operational risk
management possible. Almost every module within Active Agenda allows
users to associate risk imperatives (employee safety, product
quality, operational efficiency, labor relations, etc.) with every
record. This approach allows organizations to use one system to
manage cross-functional risks and generate views of the data geared
towards a relevant audience (functional department leaders, specific
regulatory agencies, etc.).
Risk imperatives can be used “as-is,”
or modified to reflect an organization's strategic business
imperatives. Risk imperatives also allow organizations to generate
“score-cards” which reflect the degree to which an organization
balances its risk management efforts. For example, Active Agenda can
generate a “radar” chart displaying the number of hazards
reported by risk imperative. The mere absence of data on a radar
chart can reflect an under utilized business process.
Form and Report Generation:
Active Agenda can automatically generate many regulatory required
reports and forms for submission to agencies. In fact, Active
Agenda's data export capabilities allow organizations to produce
lists of data or record reports in a comma delimited, XML, or
spreadsheet format. Active Agenda can automatically attached a data
file to a notification and submit it to agencies, partners, or
carriers for quick download and use by the recipient.
Regulations: Active Agenda
allows organizations to track every regulation impacting the company
and provide detailed descriptions of how the regulation impacts the
operation. This feature can be quite helpful as staff compliance
resources “turn-over” and incumbents inherent the compliance
tasks of the business. The regulations module can be used to
communicate compliance responsibilities across a global enterprise
and make local operators more cognizant of their responsibilities and
compliance status'.
Notifications: The notifications
feature of Active Agenda allows organizations to share risk control
activities, events, and reports across an enterprise. The
notifications feature requires an organization to establish
notification lists pre-incident notification lists that are available
when they're needed. Notifications can be sent to one or more people
on the pre-established lists and every notification can be saved and
attached to the respective record. Complying with agency notification
requirements has never been easier.
Partnerships: The partnerships
module tracks the establishment of company policies and the
“partnerships” formed to comply with those policies. The
partnerships module allows companies to track policies, compliance
partnerships, and share compliance documents in an open and
collaborative environment. The partnerships module can also associate
local and shared expectations which can be audited and scored against
plan. This is a great International Standards Organization (ISO)
compliance tool.
