Active Agenda is brilliant at controlling and tracking risks, but often the board does not want this level of detail. What would be great is if a heat map could be created (the following url is a basic idea) http://www.resolver.ca/images/heatmap.jpg
That gives an overview of the risks in the business with the potential to drill down into each listed risk on the heat map for more detail if necessary. This would give the executives a snapshot of the business, which can give the entire business clarity and focus and automatic prioritisation of the risks that exist on any given day in an instant.

So my question is that is this risk matrix a possibility in active agenda? and, if so, is it on anyone's priority list to include in upcoming versions of active agenda?
Thanks,
egoddard

Thanks for the feedback and your suggestion/request egoddard. The chart you have requested is entirely possible with Active Agenda and we will begin working on it for you. Charts and reports are the last thing's we've added because we want the project/user community to help guide our prioritization like you have with your request. The possibilities are virtually limitless.

Our risk matrix will allow for the viewing of a "heat map" based on severity AND likelihood, and the maps will be viewable based on the search filter/s applied (e.g. organization, location, module topic, etc.). These charts can then be placed on the executive's dashboard, sheltering them from the "blinding" amounts of detailed operational data that Active Agenda collects.

We will be posting an update within the next several days (0.8.1). We will also be migrating the project code and tracking to sourceforge this week. This will make it easier for project participants to enter requests into our priority list directly AND watch as we prioritize and attack the list.

Thanks again for your suggestion!! We'll get to it as soon as we can and we will post progress for your consideration.

Just to clarify: This will not be in the upcoming 0.8.1 (out today, I hope), but we're planning to add something like this in 0.8.2.

Severities and likelihoods are integer values from 1-5 in Active Agenda, by default (though the number of available values can be changed). So there will be many instances where several reported hazards would occupy the exact same coordinates in the chart. This is why I say "something like this" - our heat map chart will need to address this, and might look a bit different as a consequence...

Again, thanks for the suggestion!

Hello secretor,

The simple answer to your question is "Progress is slow." We had expected more contribution from the community, and/or visionary project sponsorship that would enable us to make faster (regular) progress. Neither has materialized. Given our level of resources, the "Risk Map" has been pushed back on our priority list.

We recognize the importance of dynamic charting and reporting. We have been assessing technologies that will enable us to build very dynamic charts/reports using Flash and non-Flash tools (e.g. Yahoo tools).

We are currently working to post a new release. The new release should be out in several weeks. The new release will contain many new features and reflect considerable effort.

We apologize for our lack of pace. We will get to the Risk Map as soon as our priorities allow. Thanks for your interest in the project...Dan
